What do you do?

I’m the owner/operator of Patti's & Cream. We have a small batch, handmade ice cream factory, based here in Dunedin. We operate out of a food track and a retail shop in Mornington.

What is the best thing about running your own business?

The best thing about owning and managing your own business is the freedom to take it in whatever direction you want, and not to be told what to do – it’s liberating and scary.

Why is it important to have a good accountant?

Jared‘s been such a valuable part of the story of my business so far it’s been amazing to have his support. I’m a solo operator/owner so I don’t have business partners to bounce ideas off of so to have someone as strong as Jared that’s so interested in the business, and accessible is amazing. He also has a real interest in hospitality businesses.

What’s next for your business?

Going forward we have lots of plans. We have a site that we are going to announce soon. Plus that we have expansion set plans outside of Dunedin. They are all different angles to come at the business from. It’s exciting times ahead!
